We’re Nkhadze Alive Youth Organisation (NAYORG), a youth-led nonprofit organization based in Balaka, Malawi. Since 2008, we’ve been working alongside vulnerable communities to create sustainable change where it’s needed most.
At our core, we believe in the power of young people and local communities to drive development. That’s why we focus on empowering youth and marginalized groups with the skills, knowledge, and tools they need to thrive — whether through agriculture, health education, early childhood care, or economic empowerment.
We partner with communities to identify their real needs, and together, we develop solutions that last. Every project we run — from Village Savings & Loan (VSL) groups to climate-smart agriculture and WASH programs — is designed to build resilience, promote dignity, and create lasting impact.
We’re more than a nonprofit. We’re a movement for hope, equity, and opportunity.
At NAYORG, we take a holistic approach to community development by focusing on the real issues that affect young people and vulnerable populations. Our programs are community-driven, inclusive, and focused on long-term impact. Here’s how we’re making a difference:
We support smallholder farmers to move beyond subsistence farming by promoting climate-smart agriculture, crop diversification, conservation farming, and access to improved seeds and markets. Our goal is to reduce hunger, improve household income, and strengthen food systems at the grassroots level.

We increase access to safe drinking water, improve sanitation facilities, and promote hygiene practices in rural communities. From borehole construction to village-wide Open Defecation Free (ODF) campaigns, our WASH initiatives protect health and restore dignity.
Our health programs focus on HIV/AIDS prevention, maternal and child health, nutrition, and malaria awareness. We empower communities with knowledge through peer education, support groups, and health campaigns — improving behaviors and saving lives.
We support Community-Based Child Care Centres (CBCCs) to give every child a strong start. This includes building infrastructure, training caregivers, providing learning materials, and working with communities to support child nutrition and early learning.
We help young people become informed, active participants in development and decision-making. Through skills training, advocacy, civic education, and community leadership, we build youth confidence and their role in governance processes at district and local levels.
